Borealis Village – Ylläs, Äkäslompolo
Borealis Village lies 100 km north of the Arctic Circle next to Kukastunturi fell, just a six-minute drive from Äkäslompolo and under ten minutes from Ylläs ski resort. The village has 13 small cabins, each with its own forest view and privacy.
Every 18–24 m² cabin is built for the Lapland winter: private sauna, stove, fully equipped kitchenette and large windows for watching the northern lights on clear nights. Ski tracks start 150 metres away and Arctic Skylight Lodge restaurant is within walking distance.
Getting here
- • By air: Kittilä (approx. 1 h) or Rovaniemi (approx. 2.5 h), rental car from the airport.
- • By train: night train from Helsinki to Kolari, then a 30-minute drive.
- • By car: your own or a rental car is recommended, but a taxi works too. Nearest shop 6 minutes away.

Check-in from 17:00, check-out by 10:00. You will receive the door code and arrival instructions on your phone before arrival.

How does check-in work?
Check-in is self-service. Before arrival you receive a personal door code and detailed arrival instructions on your phone – no queueing at a reception. Check-in from 5 pm and check-out by 10 am. Early check-in or late check-out can be booked as an extra.
